Emeka, a sixteen year old boy, arrives Orabeze village on a visit from Abuja. His curiosity is aroused by the mysteries surrounding Ngene-Ugwu, an oracle famous in the district and beyond for its powers in dealing with myriads of human problems, including adjudicating over complex land disputes. Trouble start when a villager accuses the oracle’s chief priest, Eze Ngene, of feeding fat on the gullibility of the oracle’s adherents. This will heighten Emeka’s curiosity and lead him to venture into the dreaded sacred forest, the secret abode of the gods, where mortals are forbidden to enter. But, Emeka’s discoveries lead to a police raid, bringing astonishment to the opponents of the chief priest and those who place their trust in the famous oracle.
